Areli Herrera

Originally from Aurora, Illinois (you may know it better as the setting of Wayne's World), I've lived in Milwaukee for the better part of the decade, and I cannot imagine calling anywhere else home. Milwaukee has always been the heart of my professional and personal journey. After graduating from Marquette University with degrees in Secondary Education and English, I have dedicated my life to building strong community foundations.

As a teacher on Milwaukee's south side, I designed research-backed curricula for local schools while fostering authentic relationships with Milwaukee's families. My focus has always been on understanding the unique stories around me and ensuring they have the support needed to thrive. My desire to serve eventually led me into program management and community advocacy. Across multiple nonprofits, from direct grassroots community outreach to driving statewide initiatives, I've learned that the most impactful service must go beyond a simple transaction; it's about understanding and empowering people to make decisions that protect their future.

At MKE Benefits, I am excited to translate my background in education and strategic planning into the world of insurance. Healthcare is one of our most essential safety nets, but also one of the most difficult to understand. I plan to use my philosophy of clear communication and personalized guidance to help unravel the confusion.
